Volunteer for Seeds for the Future

Earth Day Community Event — Fortuna, CA

Seeds for the Future is a kid-centered Earth Day event focused on low-waste education, hands-on activities, and community connection. Volunteers are the heart of this day — helping guide activities, support families, and keep the event flowing smoothly. You do not need plant expertise or teaching experience. If you’re comfortable engaging with kids and following simple guides, you’re qualified.

Local businesses are welcome to support the event in a way that aligns with their capacity — through supplies, volunteer time, or financial contributions.

If your business is interested in sponsoring through volunteer time, we’d love to collaborate. I’m happy to provide outreach materials for your breakroom or office and explore ways your business can be highlighted during the event while supporting a meaningful, kid-centered Earth Day experience.

How the Event Is Structured

Activity Stations

Stations may include:

-Self-watering planter (upcycled bottles)

-Upcycle & seed planting table

-Feed the Soil (making plant food from food scraps)

-“Plant a Promise” reflection & writing station

-Composting basics (how to start at home)

-Propagation station (jars & watering basics)

(Some stations are more hands-on, others more conversational — we’ll match volunteers based on comfort.)
