Caring for the Fab Lab Plants
Thank you for helping care for these plants!
These recommendations are designed specifically for the Lost Coast Fab Lab installation.
A quick reference for the Lost Coast Fab Lab installation.
Before watering any plant:
Check the soil with your finger 2–3 inches deep.
If the soil still feels damp, wait a few more days. If the moss on top feels damp, you can pull it back and take a peek to confirm soil is still moist.
When in doubt, don't water. It's much easier to recover a thirsty plant than one with root rot.

Philodendron 'Painted Lady'
Asparagus Sprengerii
Watering
Before watering, check the soil with your finger.
Water the large pot when the top 2–3 inches of the Ficus Audrey's soil feel dry. This will usually be every 2–3 weeks, but may be a little more frequent during warm, sunny weather.
When watering:
Water each plant thoroughly until a small amount drains from the bottom of its nursery pot.
Allow the pots to drain completely before placing them back inside their decorative containers.
Never leave standing water in the cache pots.
What to watch for
🍃 Ficus Audrey
A few older leaves dropping occasionally is normal.
If leaves begin dropping rapidly, contact Nurture + Leaf before adjusting watering.
🌿 Painted Lady
If the leaves begin to droop slightly, check the soil before watering. It likes to have the top inch or so dry before watering. Dry leaf edges mean it wants water more frequently.
Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet.
🌱 Asparagus Sprengerii
This plant enjoys slightly more moisture than the others.
This one will probably be watered more frequently than the others in this display

Watering
Before watering, check the soil with your finger.
Water this display when the top 2–3 inches of the Dracaena's soil feel dry. This will usually be every 2–3 weeks, though warm weather may shorten that timeframe.
Water each plant thoroughly until water drains from the bottom of the pot.
What to watch for
🌴 Dracaena marginata
Lower leaves will naturally yellow over time.
Brown tips are normal and may be trimmed if desired.
🌿 Green Climbing Philodendron
Leaves may droop slightly when ready for water.
Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry before watering.
This one is in a different soil that holds more water, so it may need to be watered less frequently than it’s cousin in the blue pot.
💛 Philodendron 'Painted Lady'
Bright yellow new growth is normal.
Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet.
You can let the top 2 inches get dry here too.

Felt pads have been installed beneath the pots to help protect the flooring.
Please do not slide the pots across the floor.
If a plant must be moved, lift carefully and return it to the same location.
